My research interests include language variation and change, sociolinguistics, bilingualism and situations of language contact.

In particular, I am interested in situations of contact between Spanish and English in the U.S. and in studying how Spanish is developed, used, and maintained by Heritage Language speakers of Spanish in the U.S.

I am also interested in language acquisition, specifically, in the teaching of Spanish as a second language and as a heritage language.

Current research projects include investigation of style and register variation in speakers of Spanish as a heritage and as a second language.
